Over the years, RMD Trust has grown beyond being just a provider of healthcare. Today, we support the entire ecosystem needed to cater to our patients. Our training and education wing ensure that the industry has access to passionate, well-trained nurses driven by their commitment to service. In collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU), we also run a community college that provides training to healthcare assistants. A partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu has led to the implementation of a pilot project to provide community-based palliative care in the Thiruvallur district. Apart from these projects, RMD Trust has collaborated with organizations including NABARD, Aspire Systems, and The Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network.

What is more, we believe that palliative care can bring about joy. Our patients celebrate major festivities with much happiness and we ensure that individual birthdays are a cause for spreading smiles as well. The environment at our facilities is one of joy, gratitude, and the celebration of life.

OUR VISION

RMD Pain and Palliative Care Trust was born from the desire to alleviate the suffering of those most in need. Most of our patients suffer from terminal or chronic illness while also coming from backgrounds of socio-economic poverty, abandonment and/or insufficient resources. At RMD Trust, we work towards not only providing them access to high quality healthcare but also creating an environment of community, camaraderie and care. RMD Trust was founded by Dr. Republica Sridhar, a specialist in palliative and geriatric care. Today, we have a team of 8 full-time doctors spanning specialities including geriatric care, palliative care, diabetology, critical care and general physicians. We also have built a network of visiting consultants to cater to other needs.

RMD is one of the leading pain and palliative care service providers for the terminally ill in and around Tamil Nadu. It has been the goal of RMD Trust to be able to provide quality care to the maximum number of people with a special focus on people from marginalised socio-economic backgrounds. We have successfully been able to achieve this by impacting the lives of over 96,000 beneficiaries and providing individualised care through outpatient, inpatient, home-based and hospital care.

Going beyond direct service provision, RMD has played an important role in the healthcare sector by fulfilling the need for competent professionals in palliative care. This is especially important considering the high demand for these services. I would like to also take this opportunity to thank the government agencies, the communities and our staff at RMD who have helped us achieve new milestones in palliative care. With the help of these missionaries, we hope to reach greater heights.
